It is my honour to take on the role of Associate Editor for the Pathology Section of Canadian Journal of Medical Specialties. Before I introduce myself, I am grateful to Dr. Stephen Yip and Dr. Jacqueline Parai for their prior contributions to this section.

As an introduction, I am a pathologist practicing genitourinary pathology at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax, NS. I completed my medical training at the University of Ottawa, residency at McGill University, and a Genitourinary pathology fellowship at Stanford Health Care. I sincerely welcome the opportunity to contribute to future content and assist in the peer-review publication process. Thank you to our reviewers for their input and insightful comments and to our copy editor, Dr. Erica Schollenberg, for helping prepare papers for publication.

I welcome you to read the articles in this edition, and I thank the authors for their work and diligence.

This section feature “Exemption of surgical specimens from routine submission to the pathology laboratory: A Canadian environmental scan with recommendations,” an informative review of guidelines and recommendations across Canadian institutions regarding specimen submission for histologic assessment.

We also offer readers “Undifferentiated Carcinomas Across Multiple Organ Sites: A Retrospective Review with a Rare Case of Colorectal Carcinoma from Scarborough Health Network.” This article highlights the complexity of diagnosing undifferentiated carcinomas and presents insightful considerations with a case presentation and a review of the literature.

I trust you will enjoy this issue’s pathology section.
